Before I get into the description/explanation, let me start by saying this: just because this sounds fun and interesting to you, please don't click it to click it. Be prepared to keep yourself engaged and working.
Most of you know me as Drunk Stream PJ; sober PJ is a new experience. You might even say I'm less reserved. I have no TOS to worry about. You'll get used to it I'm sure.
I'll ramble and spout things off as they come to me; sometimes, they may even come across as rubbish. If you don't feel you can decipher through the trash or don't want to, thanks for sticking with me so far, but again, don't click it.
While starting out, I may only pick one person to work with. With the right people, it can grow and include others. I'm hoping to get somebody with some programming knowledge or even somebody interested in learning. Keep in mind that other skills like design, graphics, and music will be helpful and needed at a later stage. So even if you don't want to program, you can still have a chance to join us.
A PC is required, Desktop or Laptop. Sorry, no potatoes. It must have at least three or more hamster wheels under the hood. Most PC's built or bought in the last 2-3 years should be able to handle the majority of the work. OR capable of running games like Fortshite, Sims 4, Conan, Ark, and so on will also work.
My goal is to work on this Sunday through Thursday. As you know, I stream on Friday and Saturday. I don't want to split my focus. I may mention or plug it on my own to draw interest, but I know it can be tedious to most, so I won't want to go too in-depth on it.
Again, don't click it if you can't commit to it; 95% of communication will be through Discord text. Voice can be used when needed, but as with most, I have a life outside the computer and spend it with family. So, I may work on the project while I watch a movie with my wife or do other things. The idea is that it will be a 'Hobby', and while there will be no pressure or deadlines, but I do want the 'Hobby' to continue. If I have to spend my time waiting for you or hunting you down to get something done, it won't work.
We'll use sites and programs like GIT, KanBan, GitLab, FTP, and file storage that I already have a lot set up, so we don't need to worry about cost. We'll share code and information with these systems.
The parts of the project you are working on can be done your way, as will the parts I work on be done my way. That being said, we do need to make sure they work together. We need to meet in the middle with the same goals and answers to the problem. I won't tell you to do it my way, and I would expect the same respect to allow me to work mine.
You must also have a understanding of installing the tools needed to do this; I can help to a degree, but every PC is unique and an error could stem from your configuration, if I can get it installed and working, then it must work to a degree. I don't need to be troubleshooting your issues, if we both have the same error, we'll work together.
The idea is to learn and create something new, not work on something you already have going. That by no-means means you can't have your own side project or hobby; we all have them.
We will start really basic, think Pong, think Breakout, we can copy a game for the ability to steal art and audio, even if it's an old 8 bit 'back in the day' game. We'll then work from there, copied ones won't be released to the public, for obvious reasons.
I enjoy doing this on my own, but I think it'll be fun with another person. I've already been working on things and have learned enough on my own that I don't need somebody to code with, but I want someone else to expand my abilities and get things done a bit faster, to fill in the blanks when I get stuck, to pick up some C#, Unity, or Godot, and collaborate when I'm not streaming.
I'm looking to make 'something', could be single player, co-op player, local or online multi player (could end up being used on/at stream) I'm not looking for something to sell at the start (although it could happen) but it may go up on itch.io for free/donation
If you don't want yourself known to be doing this with me, let me know, I can keep it secret, give me a 'nickname' to use in any credits etc
I have tons of assets I've bought that can be used commercially, but we'll start with free stuff found on the internet and I can generate AI stuff to use if needed.
Now as much as I said 'I'd reach out', if you've got this far you either enjoy reading or you are interested, just drop me a DM in Discord, even if it's something like 'SpongeBob SquarePants' and I'll know you are interested as you got this far.
If you are still with me, great. Click back in the Discord and use the self-roles in the Discord section to join/unlock the development channel. It is where I'll be posting about any projects.
I don't do constant chasing, I'll do it a few times, but if it's all one way, I'll stop and carry on, on my own. 'I thought you'd stopped' or 'I was waiting for you' is not an excuse or a reason, it just shows it was not for you and that is cool and totally acceptable. No hard feelings, I'll just move on.
In case you are wondering why the long speech, I've been down this road before. I've learned things when working with others and don't want a repeat. The third time is the charm, they say. Again, if this isn't for you and you can't commit the time, no hard feelings. Don't click yes (or go and unclick if you clicked it before reading) If all I've done is get the word out that I might be building something for the stream and nobody wants to help, I'll keep on like I have been since I was 14, messing around with coding, yeah yeah; I know I'm old, I've been doing it that long.
